Beautiful. DOES ANYONE know how to get in touch with Jefrf or Ivan ? Ivan built my dobro almost 30 years ago. I want to write him to say thanks for the great instrument. It has brought my much joy.

Well performed, but the thing I noticed (because I don't do it well) was how well you kept time. No rushing and very even throughout the entire tune. Impressive.

I remember Jeff from the old theater in brownstown in, he was playing with herb clinart. He was so good then, glad you've made such a career. I'm the extra banjo picker that showed up sometimes. Kenny Cardin didn't need one but it sure was an honor to be on stage with such talent

I hear a real miner buzz coming from the forth strings. Could be mic buzz.. Not sure.. Could be my imagination. Fantastic work there! I could only hope to become half that good.

I have some big flamed wild cherry trees on my property, maybe a mandolin in one of them. That Adirondack top and Cherry made a great sounding mandolin!

Wondering why cherry isn't used more in mandolin making? The tone is wonderful in that instrument.

Also called Woodchuck in the deadnin, as recorded by Jim Smoak and The Louisiana Honeydrippers in 1961. Jim Smoak played banjo with as part of the Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys in the 1950s, '60s. Jim is still performing, I believe. See: www.jimsmoak.net/home.html After I came across the mistifying term 'deadnin' some years ago, I spent some time researching it: Here's what I learned: A 'deadnin' is a brush and branch pile built up while one clears timber from land meant for use as a field or house site later. These piles often became shelters for animals like woodchucks, etc. Hence, one would say 'there's a woodchuck in the deadnin'. Or a woodpecker in the deadnin, as the case may be. The word was formerly used in New England, south to Louisiana.

Great version of JR! What was the second tune?. Not sure the cherry makes a big difference in the tone compared to maple though.

Great playing -- one of the cleanest and clearest versions of Jerusalem Ridge I've heard -- I will probably use it to learn the tune. As to the instrument, I prefer a "woodier" sound, but this is a very nice mandolin. As certain woods get harder to obtain at affordable prices, it is nice to see luthiers experimenting with non-traditional woods. Martin makes a nice cherry guitar -- their SWDGT.

Best mid-range and treble I've ever heard on a mandolin. Killer sound! Find a way to darken that bass a tiny bit and achieve mandolin nirvana.
